Overview

With support from Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, LAND studio created Studio to the Street: a workshop series providing local artists with the tools to successfully apply for, plan, and implement public art projects.

The inaugural workshops were held in fall 2019. Each two-day session featured a national guest artist as well as local artist experts. Brooklyn based artist Olalekan (LEk) Jeyifous participated in the first workshop, and Chiaozza, an artist duo also from New York, participated in the second. In total, over 145 participants attended the events.

From 2020 to 2021, Studio to the Street events included virtual artist studio tours and panel discussions covering a wide range of public art related topics.

Both days covered important topics that I appreciated. Thanks for the amazing event. It is wild to see the depth and diversity of Clevelanders engaged in public art.

Workshop Participant

In addition to a covering a number of topics regarding the public art process, participants were able to watch a mock-jury deliberation unfold in real time.

At each workshop, members of the community, planners, and community development officials were asked to judge between several proposed artworks to provide guests with an in-depth glimpse into what it would look like to participate in a call for artists.
