A few of LAND studio’s partners have opportunities that are currently accepting submissions from local artists. Check them out! 1. The City of Cleveland is seeking artists to work with the community on public art installations at the Lake Avenue Bridge in the City's Detroit Shoreway neighborhood -- deadline to apply is February 28! http://www.clevelandohio.gov/node/164502 2. The City of Cleveland, through its Public Art Program, is requesting qualifications from artists or designers or teams thereof who may be interested in producing public artwork for the recently opened Cleveland Kennel, which is operated by the city’s Division of Animal Care and Control.The deadline to apply is February 28. http://www.clevelandohio.gov/node/164478 3. Twelve Literary Arts is seeking northeast Ohio writers for its second year of the Barbara Smith Writer-in-Residence Program. The program is open to poets, fiction writers, journalists, essayists, and playwrights and provides a safe, creative space for Northeast Ohio-based poets and writers of color to bring a current project to completion. Twelve Literary Arts offers TWO residency opportunities for established poets and writers of prominence and emerging writers of promise. The residency period for NE Ohio poets and writers is 3 months. Slavic Village, Gertrude Gardens Signage- Call for Artists: The Gertrude Gardens is a formerly vacant lot transformed into a publicly activated greenspace featuring perennial gardens, a walking path and public art installations. The next phase includes adding permanent sculptures and signage. The site- a collaboration between local business, the Gold Plum and Slavic Village Development- was intended to re-imagine how a vacant lot, where houses once stood, can be reinvented into a community space for residents and visitors to enjoy. Slavic Village, Rooms To Let- Call for Artists: If you could temporarily transform a space inside a vacant house, what would you do? One of Cleveland’s most captivating immersive art experiences, Rooms To Let: CLE will be entering its 7th year as it embraces vacancy and the community of Slavic Village. Three homes slated for demolition will evolve into temporary art exhibitions as artists explore a range of themes, room by room. Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center is accepting proposals from Cuyahoga County artists of all backgrounds for $5,000 in support towards a specific project. Artists of all disciplines are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to: visual artists, musicians, dancers, live performers, and poets. Selected projects will demonstrate how the artist and their project supports and celebrates the Latino/a/x & Hispanic community of Cuyahoga County. Find the application here, juliadeburgos.org.
