Cleveland sculptures to play music from Rock Hall inductees

CLEVELAND, Ohio— Cleveland is set to receive colorful rock ‘n’ roll-themed sculptures that play snippets of songs from its rock hall inductees at regular intervals.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and Destination Cleveland are planning to put the sculptures along the downtown business spine ahead of the 2016 Republican National Convention.
The installation, called “Rock Box,” is expected to be made up of stacks of 2-foot-square loudspeakers that play music from rock Hall of Famers. The goal is to create a stronger link between the hall of fame and downtown, which are separated by railroads, a 70-foot drop in elevation, and highways and ramps.
The city gave final approval for the $500,000 project on Friday. It’s being funded by Destination Cleveland.
