Downtown CLE snags new music installation before RNC

CLEVELAND--Downtown Cleveland will soon be rocking. An art installation consisting of multiple clusters of music speakers will soon pop up along East Ninth Street. Snippets of songs made famous by Rock Hall inductees will be piped through the speakers a few times every day. The project, dubbed the "Rock Box," is a joint effort between the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, LAND Studio, and Destination Cleveland, who is funding the $500,000 project.

The groups presented their ideas to the city's planning commission Thursday. Artist Mark Reigelman, a Cleveland Institute of Art graduate, created the Rock Box. The speakers are scheduled to be installed in time for next summer's Republican National Convention.
