East Side Transportation Summit Features Projects in Eastern Cuyahoga County

The Cuyahoga County Planning Commission is holding an East Side Transportation Summit on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cleveland Heights Recreation Center (1 Monticello Boulevard, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118). The summit is offered to give the public an opportunity to learn more about transportation-related projects on the eastern side of Cuyahoga County.

Tables will be set up with displays that describe a variety of key transportation projects in the region, including:
·         University Circle Transportation and Mobility Plan
·         Martin Luther King Blvd./E. 105th Street Intersection Reconfiguration
·         East 185th Street
·         East 105th Street
·         Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority’s HealthLine/Red Line Extension
·         Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority’s Blue Line Extension
·         East 116th Street, Little Italy, and University Circle Rapid Stations
·         Van Aken Redevelopment
·         East Side Greenway Health Impact Assessment

A brief presentation on the East Side Greenway planning project will be given at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m.  The East Side Greenway seeks to connect many of these other projects through a unified trail network. The communities within the study area include East Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, Beachwood, Pepper Pike, University Heights, Richmond Heights, Mayfield Heights, Mayfield Village, Euclid, South Euclid, Lyndhurst, Bratenahl, Highland Heights, Orange Village, Warrensville Heights and eastern portions of Cleveland.

“The goal of the East Side Transportation Summit is to educate the public on projects planned in east-side communities to enhance transportation and recreation in the area,” says Glenn Coyne, director of the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission. “We invite people to come and learn about transportation and development projects in their communities and find out how they can get involved.”
