April "Ape" Bleakney

Overview

April Bleakney is an artist, entrepreneur, and student of history.

After graduating from Kent State University and working in nonprofits at the height of the recession, she launched her creative business, APE MADE, in 2011. While primarily working as a screen printer, April also loves photography, drawing, and mixed media work. She utilizes only eco-friendly hand printing techniques and strives to engage with the community through the arts, through teaching and art projects. April has completed both local and international artists residencies and multiple public art and commissioned projects. She is currently in the midst of a studio expansion project.

LAND studio creates places and fosters equitable communities in Cleveland through transformative public art, innovative design, collaborative planning, dynamic programming, and creative placemaking.

Our vision is to make Cleveland a city filled with vibrant, textured places that unite, inspire, and enrich its people.
