To capitalize on MidTown Cleveland’s efforts to create vibrant neighborhood public spaces and to expand is current mural program, the organization is partnering with LAND studio to bring POW! WOW!, an international mural and music festival in Cleveland in June. The name POW! WOW! is inspired by the color-filled pages of comic books, with “POW” being the impact of art on a person and “WOW!,” the reaction that art draws from a viewer. POW! WOW! is a Native American term that describes a gathering celebrating culture, music, and art.

In addition, to murals the festivities will also include concerts, free family-friendly programs, workshops, and more. Other POW! WOW! festivals have been held in Hawaii, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Worcester, MA, Long Beach, CA, Washington, DC, and Austin, TX. POW! WOW! Cleveland will be the first held in the MidWest.
