Public and private investments in Downtown Cleveland are paying off with major new developments completed or underway. East 4th Street and Flats East Bank (mixed use office, residential, and entertainment districts), the Horseshoe Casino and Cleveland Convention Center, and other projects have catalyzed the downtown district. These developments are attracting a growing residential population searching for a unique urban lifestyle, visitors looking to experience a dynamic destination, and businesses seeking to attract and retain top talent. LAND studio helps connect these projects and other urban amenities through high-quality public spaces and enhanced pedestrian experiences.
Every Cleveland neighborhood has its own distinct character and rich history. With the support of a strong community development network, each neighborhood is defining Cleveland’s future as a destination of choice for residents, visitors, businesses, and more. Neighborhoods with strong anchor organizations and assets have seen the first wave of major investment. Many emerging neighborhoods are also positioned to seize the next wave of investment and growth while others are striving to overcome the effects of foreclosure, abandonment, and vacancy. LAND studio is committed to seeing every neighborhood thrive by improving and connecting their public spaces to the community around them.
Public art helps create a sense of place and revitalize neighborhoods by complementing neighborhood assets, contributing to the community aesthetic, and inspire stakeholders to reinvest. Whether working with local artists in neighborhood spaces or bringing internationally recognized design talent to our downtown landscape, LAND studio has a strong history and bright future of bringing art into the city.
Connecting to Our Waterfront
The investments taking place on both sides of the Cuyahoga River, downtown, and in near west side neighborhoods present an opportunity to achieve the community’s desire for public access to the river and lake. LAND studio has been an active leader in helping connect our downtown, neighborhoods, and waterfronts.
Over the course of 2014, LAND studio will be involved in a broad spectrum of projects in these areas, including a mixture of long-term projects and short term deliverables, affecting some of the most important development planning projects in our city and region. Our involvement in these endeavors creates opportunities to identify the intersections between projects and key partners. Work on these projects allows us to explore ways to leverage existing dollars and determine how those dollars are spent.
