Western Reserve Section Event: Perk Plaza Tour

Date: April 26 from 1:00PM - 3:00PM

Undoubtedly the largest Western Reserve Section event of the year, in which we celebrate National Landscape Architecture Month touring the newly improved Perk Plaza, led by McKnight Associates, LAND studio and landscapeforms.

Meet us under the red pergola for cupcakes and conversation with the project leaders of the rededicated Ralph J. Perk Plaza to celebrate NLAM and Frederick Law Olmsted's 190th birthday!

This event is free and open to the public, and LA CES approved for 2 HSW hours!

Formerly a park built in the 1970’s, the renovated Perk Plaza is a recent addition to the City of Cleveland’s urban parks system. The design of the former park did not allow users to see into or through the park, and because of this, nobody used it and the park failed. New plans were carried out in 2009 to create a more inviting park. The tour will include a discussion about the park’s improvements, the design process and challenges, project management, and a demonstration of the porous paving technology utilized on the project by Unilock.

After the Unilock demonstration there will be an optional walk to Rockwell Avenue to view the green street installation by the graduate students at Kent State CUDC.

Rain date scheduled for April 27, 2012.
A cancellation email will be sent to all OCASLA members and registered attendees prior to the regularly scheduled tour.
